Backyard Revolution

Backyard Revolution is thrilled to host Bear Sponsored Virginia State Archery Champion, Olin Bare, for a day of hands on experience in ‘Building Arrows Without Modern Jigs’, ‘Flemish Bow String Making’, and review of basic bow shooting technique.
The day will begin with Arrowsmithing, as attendees construct their own arrows, without using jigs. Flemish String making is next, ideally, participants will bring their own bow to string, however, beginner bows can be provided with advanced notice. Following lunch, Basic Bow technique will be demonstrated as participants shoot using the arrows and strings crafted earlier in the day.
Held at Historic Bon Aire Farm, in Nelson County, VA., one hour southwest of Charlottesville, this workshop is suitable for ages 6 and up. Children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

ABOUT OLIN BARE
Olin Bare is a member of the Virginia Bow Hunters Association, International Bow Hunters Association, Augusta Archers, Bear Archery Pro Staff, and is a Target Archery Marshal for the Society for Creative Anachronism. Olin was a 2011 Virginia State Traditional Archery Champion. The event he discusses is part of the 2010 Virginia Foundation for the Humanities Folk Life Master and Apprentice Program. Olin also founded the Horseback Orienteering program at the Virginia Horse Center.
